Sludge Boss - Wastewater ROV Inspection & Robotic Cleaning

Wastewater tanks, oxidation ponds, lagoons and wet wells can accumulate sludge and settled solids that reduce effective volume, interfere with process performance or create maintenance challenges. Sludge Boss is used as part of a planned process that starts with inspection and assessment.
Sludge Boss is a tracked, tethered vacuum crawler. The pumped sludge stream is directed to an approved containment, dewatering or treatment point, which allows cleaning to be staged with less disruption than conventional dewatering and excavation. Cleaning may be staged while the pond remains operational, subject to treatment-process controls and council approval.

Wastewater handling, pumping and disposal requirements are site-specific and are confirmed with the client before cleaning proceeds. Oxidation pond work is completed under an approved site-specific wastewater management plan.
What we need to plan a pond clean
Valmar confirms the mission package for each pond, aligning the crawler, pump, hose, access controls and slurry discharge route with the treatment process and the cleaning objective. The inputs that decide it:
- Pond geometry, depth, profile and access
- Sludge characteristics and estimated volume
- Treatment flows, hydraulics, liner and obstructions
- Slurry discharge, dewatering and disposal route
Final pump selection, hose lengths, suction performance and deployment method are confirmed against pond geometry, sludge characteristics, liner condition and the approved slurry discharge route. Wastewater Questions
Can you remove wastewater sludge?
Yes, for suitable applications. Sludge Boss is used for remote sludge and sediment removal after an initial assessment of sludge depth, access, pumping requirements and the agreed containment or disposal pathway.
Does the pond have to be taken out of service?
Not necessarily. Cleaning may be staged while the pond remains operational, subject to treatment-process controls and council approval. Whether that is appropriate for a given pond is decided from the inspection and the wastewater management plan, not assumed.
Where does the sludge go?
The pumped sludge stream is directed to an agreed containment, dewatering, vacuum truck or treatment/disposal pathway. The discharge route is confirmed with you before cleaning proceeds, because it decides the pump, hose and deployment arrangement.
